Maintenance Repair Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Repair Worker to join our team at the Ohio Department of Commerce. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of maintenance and repair tasks to ensure the smooth operation of our facilities.
Key Responsibilities- Provide work direction and training to inmates or other assigned staff in the performance of semi-skilled and skilled maintenance repair work.
- Perform semi-skilled and skilled maintenance repair of equipment, including electrical, carpentry, and plumbing tasks.
- Conduct routine inspections of buildings and equipment to identify needed repairs or replacements.
- Operate machine tools and welding equipment to make repairs to metal parts and equipment.
- Ensure secure maintenance of tools and complete tool counts and inventories.
- Assist in related job crafts as required.
- Control and restrict inmate movement to assigned areas.
- Conduct searches of inmates when a breach of security is suspected.
- Respond to emergencies.
- Attend meetings and trainings.
- Participate on institution committees.
- Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition and subtraction and in reading, writing, and speaking common English vocabulary.
- 12 months of training or 12 months of experience in maintenance repair, including basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and masonry skills.
- Valid commercial driver's license required if motor equipment is of type and size regulated by Sections 4506.01 and 4506.12 of Ohio Revised Code.
