Advocate Aurora Health is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a job in Elm Grove, Wisconsin.

Job Summary

We want our teammates and their families to Live Well. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will be responsible for utilizing respiratory therapy processes to support patient assessment, operating specialized ventilators, and providing medication treatments and therapies per physician order.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize respiratory therapy processes to support patient assessment, utilizing a variety of skills such as pulmonary diagnostics, chest radiograph, hemodynamic values, laboratory values, and correlates blood gases and electrolytes.
  • Operate specialized ventilators in critical and non-critical care venues, assisting physician with bedside or other procedures as applicable to facility.
  • Provide medication treatments and therapies per physician order and/or patient-driven respiratory protocols as prescribed.
  • Clean, maintain, and ensure proper functionality of equipment, troubleshoots equipment as necessary, and identifies the need for service and/or repair.
  • Educate and instruct patients in purpose, technique, self-care, goal of therapy, and disease management.
  • Facilitate clinical problem solving and collaborate with other departments to provide education on managing patients.
  • Under physician direction, adapt and comply to policies and procedures for various service areas, perform tasks and/or special duties as required by assignment, and maintain performance standards and organizational behaviors.
  • Demonstrate effective communication, feedback, and conflict resolution skills, providing clear, concise, timely, and accurate patient handoff.
  • Promote a culture of safety by recognizing and applying proper safety measures to prevent patient harm, reporting patient safety events and near misses in a timely manner, and seeking to identify potential safety issues and assist in implementation of corrective actions.
  • Teach, educate, and precept new teammates, orientees, and students.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served, demonstrating knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span, and possessing ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs.

Requirements

  • RCP (Respiratory Care Practitioner) license issued by the state in which the team member practices.
  • Active RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) credential issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care within 12 months OR active CRT (Certified Respiratory Therapist) credential issued by the NBRC if credential received prior to January 1, 2023.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Graduate from an accredited respiratory care program, with a minimum of an associate degree.

The estimated salary for this position is $31.10-$46.60/hour, based on qualifications, skills, relevant experience and internal equity.
