Geotechnical Drilling Assistant

Assist the Crew Lead on a drill rig, performing duties as assigned by the Crew Lead. Responsibilities may include operating the drilling equipment, judging access and utility clearance needs, and maintaining the drill rig and auxiliary vehicle. At the beginning of each workday, check with the Crew Lead to determine the necessary equipment and materials for the day's assignment.

• Set up and operate the drill rig in a safe manner, obtaining soil and rock samples as needed.
• Assist the Crew Lead in clearance of underground utilities and improvements.
• Team with the Crew Lead in surveying test boring locations and elevations.
• Install monitoring wells and piezometers, ensuring proper sealing and backfilling as required.
• Clean and restore the site to a reasonable level.
• Assist the Crew Lead in sampling and drilling procedures to increase efficiency and maintain safety.

• Mechanical ability, including operator, repair, and maintenance skills.
• Working knowledge of well codes and regulations.
• Class D Driver's License, with preference for Class A or B.

This role primarily operates in the outdoors, with varying conditions and seasons. The ability to work at hazardous waste sites and wear personal protective equipment is required.

• Frequently lift 30-60 pounds from the floor to 2 feet.
• Occasionally lift 60-100 pounds from the floor to 2 feet.
• Frequently carry 30-60 pounds for 10-30 feet.
• Occasionally carry 60-100 pounds for 10-30 feet.
• Stand 80% of the day, often on uneven surfaces.
• Move 20% of the day, with frequent bending and stooping.
