SSM Health is seeking a skilled Radiology Tech PRN to join our team at the South Madison Campus. As a Radiology Tech PRN, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality diagnostic imaging services to our patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Explain procedures to patients, ensuring their understanding and providing educational materials as needed.
  • Transport patients to and from clinical areas, verifying patient identity according to policies and procedures.
  • Assist technologists with preparing patients for radiology exams, positioning them for procedures.
  • Follow radiation safety procedures and guidelines, preventing unnecessary radiation exposure to patients.
  • Prepare and administer contrast media and medications within the accepted scope of practice and applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Observe patients during procedures, reporting any abnormal activity and monitoring protocols for updates or refinements.
  • Ensure prompt submission of high-quality images and documents to PACS, including correct lead markers and patient data/history.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly department, including procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, and film storage areas.
  • May perform limited CT procedures in emergent situations when a CT Technologist is not on site.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.

Requirements:

  • Associate's degree or completion of a radiology certification program.
  • One year of experience in radiology or a related field.

Physical Requirements:

  • Constant standing and walking.
  • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near and far.
  • Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication.
  • Frequent use of hearing to distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
  • Frequent lifting/moving of patients.
  • Frequent reaching, gripping, and keyboard use/data entry.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
  • Occasional use of vision to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
  • Rare kneeling and sitting.

Required Professional Licenses and Certifications:

  • Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Radiographer, Licensed - Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services.
  • ARRT-R Radiography - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
