Job Description:

As a skilled Automotive Technician A at Pep Boys, you will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing drivability and electrical systems. You will utilize your leadership and mentoring skills to drive a team and increase customer satisfaction. Direct interaction with customers to deliver superior service and educate on problems and proposed solutions will be a key aspect of this role.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose and repair brake, hydraulic, exhaust, fuel ignition, electrical, suspension, alignment, air conditioning, and computer systems.
  • Perform Technician B, Mechanic, and General Service Technician duties.
  • Explain technical diagnoses and needed repairs to non-mechanical individuals.
  • Continuously learn new technical information and techniques through formal training sessions.
  • Assist fellow technicians/mechanics in performing technical activities.
  • Keep store management aware of mechanical repair problems.
  • Maintain a neat and organized shop.
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, safety, and environmental rules.
Requirements:
  • A High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • 3+ years of strong automotive mechanical diagnosis, problem-solving, and repair experience are required.
  • 4 or more ASE certifications are preferred (A4 Steering and Suspension & A5 Brakes, plus 2 from the following: A1 Engine Repair, A6 Electrical, A7 HVAC, A8 Engine Performance, L1 Advanced Engine Performance).
  • Section 609 certification is required.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • A high level of motivation, energy, and customer-focused attitude are required.
  • Availability to work days, nights, holidays, and weekends as needed is required.
Physical Demands:
  • Frequently lift, carry, and place merchandise and supplies up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Frequent standing and walking for long periods of time.
  • Frequent reaching overhead and below the knees, including squatting, bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting.
  • Communicate effectively in person, by telephone, or by using telecommunications equipment.
  • Enter and locate information on a computer.
  • Present information to small and large groups.
  • Visually verify information, often in small print.
  • Safely operate a motor vehicle.
