Patient Care Assistant

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Patient Care Technician to join our team at Nuvance Health. As a Patient Care Technician, you will provide assistance with patient care activities and other unit tasks under the general supervision of licensed professional staff and as directed by the manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide physical care to assigned patients and perform technical skills such as point of care (POC) testing.
- Implement nursing orders promptly and adequately with an understanding of the purpose of each.
- Follow policy and procedure for assigned patient care activities, including unit specific equipment and supplies.
- Provide patient comfort by positioning, extra bathing, straightening linens, and putting personal articles within reach with courtesy and responsiveness.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Provide for patient safety through preventative measures, such as side rails, restraints, bed/chair exit alarm, and hourly rounding.
- Enter all data into the computer system as applicable.
- Communicate all patient and visitor information and observations to the appropriate person.
- Provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned unit, demonstrating knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Active CNA certification preferred.
- BLS/CPR certification required within 90 days of start date or upon completion of orientation process.
Working Conditions:
This position requires a minimum formal education of High School Diploma and minimum of zero to six months job-related experience. Experience in a hospital environment is preferred but not required.
Physical Demands:
This position requires significant manual skills/motor coordination and finger dexterity. The physical effort may exert up to 50 lbs. force, and there is significant exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.
