Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Emergency Medical Technician to join our team at NYU Langone Hospital - Brooklyn. As a key member of our emergency medical services team, you will be responsible for providing pre-hospital emergency medical care and transportation to the sick and injured through the NYC 911 system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess patient condition and provide treatment in accordance with NYS DOH and Regional Guidelines.
  • Transport patients to appropriate hospitals and transfer care to hospital staff, communicating patient condition and any treatment rendered.
  • Complete electronic Pre-Hospital Care Reports (E-PCRs) and submit them in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Comply with uniform policy and maintain a neat, clean, and professional appearance.
  • Notify RCC at the beginning of the shift and log onto the CAD system in a timely fashion.
  • Monitor MDT and radio for assignments and communicate changes in signal status.
  • Follow LMC, FDNY, and NYS DOH guidelines for emergency vehicle operations.
  • Work collaboratively with partners and other providers to provide high-quality care.
  • Participate in Department, hospital, and regional Quality Improvement programs.
  • Maintain ability and credentials to work in the NYC 911 system.
  • Comply with scheduling procedures and availability submission.
  • Minimize out-of-service time and document it on the Unit Activity Log.
  • Report to work on time and in uniform, with appropriate personal equipment.
  • Demonstrate awareness and respect for coworkers' and patients' cultural backgrounds.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Completion of a New York State Department of Health-approved EMT program.
  • Six (6) months of ambulance experience as an Emergency Medical Technician.
  • Six (6) months of 911 BLS experience preferred.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Weapons of Mass Destruction Certificate (WMD).
  • Haz-Mat Awareness Certificate.
  • CEVO or EVOC Certificate.
