Behavioral Health Specialist Part-Time Position

Job Summary:

The Behavioral Health Specialist works as a member of an integrated primary care team to provide behavioral health consultation, short-term interventions, and outpatient counseling within a primary care setting. This role shares responsibility for ensuring adequate coverage for crisis intervention/triage within the clinic and serves as a consultant for the primary care team in identifying, assessing, and making recommendations in the treatment of a variety of behavioral health and substance use disorders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide behavioral health treatment to adult patients within a primary care setting for chronic medical and/or mental health/substance abuse conditions.
  • Conduct psychosocial evaluations, screenings, and triage assessments, utilizing brief assessments routinely.
  • Consult with primary care staff/patients, including brief assessments and/or interventions during medical visits, and determine the level of care based on needs and complexity.
  • Develop and maintain a working knowledge of community resources for appropriate referrals and refer complex, longer-term cases when necessary.
  • Provide crisis assessment and triage as needed, working with patients and providers to identify manageable treatment goals and create collaborative care plans.
  • Consult and collaborate regularly with the healthcare team to provide coordinated care, review care plans, and participate in bi-weekly Interdisciplinary Team meetings.
  • Plan and provide behavioral health/psychoeducational groups as appropriate for patients and the community.
  • Coordinate and conduct behavioral health in-service trainings for the clinical team and other staff as necessary.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited school with a Master's Degree in Social Work or Counseling.
  • Licensed in Missouri as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).
  • 2-5 years of clinical experience, with experience in integrated care/primary care settings preferred.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Electronic Medical Records, Microsoft Office, and Web-based applications.
  • Access to reliable transportation.
