LPN - Clinical (Per-Diem) Position

Job Summary:

In this LPN Clinical Per-Diem role, you will work in conjunction with the Head Nurse to provide first-line planning, coordination, coaching, and organization of daily operations to ensure quality patient care in the assigned practice group. You will be responsible for providing direct nursing care to Health Center patients as needed, based on patient demand and staff capacity. This position requires advanced knowledge in multi-disciplinary practice groups and ambulatory care nursing principles and protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

* Troubleshoot staff and patient questions and problems as necessary, documenting and communicating issues and resolutions to the Head Nurse on a regular basis.
* Work closely with the Head Nurse to assess systems and suggest improvements in systems and processes.
* Maintain a cooperative relationship with all healthcare providers, Operations Manager, and Business Office Supervisor to determine appropriate patient appointments and scheduling needs.
* Provide feedback and input to the Director of Patient Services and Head Nurse on performance and training needs of support staff.
* Monitor patient and clinical support staff scheduling, ensuring adequate services and staff coverage at all times.
* Lead daily clinical staff huddles and participate in routine clinical and monthly total staff meetings.

Requirements:

* Current New York State Practical Nurse's License
* 5-7 years of experience as an LPN, with a portion of that experience in ambulatory care; supervisory experience preferred
* Ability to work with a large cross-section of staff and patients in a warm, non-judgmental, objective manner
* High degree of confidentiality and professionalism, with good judgment and flexibility
* Effective leadership skills and team building, with the ability to assist in directing and monitoring the work of others
* Knowledge of public services and healthcare-related resources
* Ability to work well with others as a team and be a positive role model to other staff and patients
