Protective Services Specialist

At Aging Services of North Central Massachusetts, we are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Protective Services Worker to join our team. As a Protective Services Worker, you will play a critical role in ensuring the dignity, safety, and respect of older adults in our community.
Job Summary:The Protective Services Worker is responsible for investigating and addressing abuse, neglect, and exploitation of older adults. This includes conducting thorough investigations, developing and implementing service plans, and providing consultations to staff and community agencies.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct investigations of abuse, neglect, and exploitation of older adults, and provide ongoing case work to protective services clients.
- Develop and implement service plans that may include medical, legal, housing, and in-home care services.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records in compliance with regulations.
- Provide consultation to staff and community agencies regarding protective services cases.
- Serve on an after-hours on-call team to respond to consumer needs.
- A master's or higher degree from an accredited school in social work, psychology, counseling, human development, nursing, sociology, criminal justice, public health, public policy, or gerontology, and at least one year of experience in counseling, casework, case management, preferably in a Protective Services or crisis intervention role.
- A Bachelors' degree from an accredited school in social work, psychology, counseling, human development, nursing, sociology, criminal justice, public health, public policy, or gerontology, and at least two years of experience in counseling, casework, or case management providing protective or crisis intervention services.
- Two years of experience in counseling, casework, or case management providing protective or crisis intervention services.
- Must be able to make mature judgments, possess good communication skills, and maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
- Knowledge of basic medical, mental health, social service delivery systems, as well as acceptable record-keeping practices is essential.
The Protective Services Worker must have the capacity to:
- See computer screens, read written material, and drive a car.
- Hear and speak on the telephone.
- Communicate verbally with consumers, caregivers, supervisors, and managers.
- Use office equipment such as computers, copy machines, fax machines, telephones, calculators, etc.
- Drive in all-weather to visit consumers in their homes.
- Navigate uneven terrain in all-weather to visit consumers in their homes.
- Climb stairs.
- Sit or stand for extended periods of time.
- Occasionally reach and grab objects with both hands, twist their hands and wrists, and push and pull objects.
- Occasionally bend, squat, and twist to perform work functions.
- Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
The Protective Services Worker must have the ability to:
- Understand and interpret complicated program instructions and laws.
- Learn complicated computer software.
- Deal rationally and calmly with varying personalities.
- Work well in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
The Protective Services Worker must be able to tolerate:
- Odors and pollutants from a variety of in-home conditions.
- By-products of office machine operation.
- Heat and cold of seasonal changes and indoor temperatures.
