About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Regulatory Compliance Specialist to join our team in the State of Maryland's Department of the Environment. As a key member of our Air and Radiation Administration, you will play a critical role in ensuring regulatory compliance with engineering and architectural standards, principles, and methods.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will provide administrative and technical supervision to the Maryland Building Energy Performance (BEPS) Compliance Division, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, including state agencies, federal agencies, local government, building owners, and nonprofit entities. This position requires excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of the BEPS Compliance Division.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with engineering and architectural standards, principles, and methods.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve program goals and objectives.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure effective compliance.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in engineering or architecture from an accredited college or university.
  • Four years of engineering or architectural experience in pollution control, waste remediation, resource conservation, environmental protection, or public health and safety.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications

It is preferred that the selected candidate has knowledge of climate change regulations and implementation.

  • Competitive salary: $73,000 - $105,000 per year.
  • Personal leave: six (6) personal leave days annually.

  • Paid parental leave: up to sixty (60) days upon the birth or adoption of a child.
