About the Role:

Hazards and risks in agriculture can be unpredictable and devastating. As a Crop Insurance Specialist at Horizon Farm Credit, you will play a vital role in helping our customers mitigate these risks and protect their agricultural investments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support our team of Crop Insurance Agents in providing exceptional customer service and ensuring timely policy processing.
  • Conduct pre-screening of incoming inquiries, communicate with customers, prospects, and internal staff to resolve issues efficiently.
  • Handle crop insurance servicing actions, assist sales staff with tasks related to sales closings, acreage and production reporting, and claims.
  • Work in partnership with the crop insurance team to provide high-level sales support throughout policy processes.
  • Assist customers with questions on their policies and fulfill customer requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Act as a final check for policy information prior to documents being sent to insurance providers.
  • Perform initial pre-screening work related to incoming leads, prospect inquiries, and/or existing customer requests.
  • Assist in generating marketing reports from insurance providers to support Crop Insurance Agents in their marketing efforts.
  • Routinely utilize CRM and insurance provider reports to manage customer relationships and enhance team communication.
  • Support the sales team with portfolio servicing, including renewals, policy changes, sales closing, production reporting, acreage reporting, and loss claims.

Requirements:

  • Associate's degree or equivalent experience in Business Administration, Agriculture, Economics, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum to two years of experience in a product agricultural (crop) related field.
  • Possess a Property & Casualty insurance license or demonstrate the ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.

Preferred Skills:

  • Proficient interpersonal relations and communication skills.
  • Able to manage challenging customer situations.
  • Basic knowledge of products related to crop insurance with the ability to clearly and accurately share with customers.
  • Agricultural background and/or sufficient knowledge of agricultural and horticultural production technology preferred.
  • Adaptable and flexible to a changing work environment.
