Job Summary

The Respiratory Care Supervisor is a key member of the Respiratory Care Management Team, responsible for ensuring that clinical and regulatory practices meet policy and operational needs of respiratory care activities in Acute Care, Critical Care, Emergency Department, and other related patient care areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assure appropriate coordination and distribution of staffing and resources.
  • Perform clinical support and supervision of RT staff in conjunction with the manager of Respiratory Care.
  • Deliver competent care, applying advanced clinical skills to intervene in complex patient care situations and mentor staff in problem resolution.
  • Assist Manager and Director in establishing best practice performance standards and assure adherence to Departmental Clinical Practice Guidelines.
  • Advocate and require accountability, professional communication, teamwork, and shared decision-making of team members.
Accountabilities
  • Responsible for performance management activities: scheduling, coaching, counseling, orienting, training, and unit rounds.
  • Assist manager with reports for quality, financials, productivity, etc.
  • Respond to, assess, and resolve all patient emergency situations.
  • Conduct Shift Huddles to facilitate Hand Off between incoming and outgoing shifts, team problem-solving, staff development, and dissemination of information.
  • Participate in department and organizational activities, including leadership, discharge planning, interdisciplinary care, quality, and committee meetings.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare, Respiratory Care, Education, or related field.
  • 3 Years experience as a bedside therapist in an acute care setting with at least 1 year experience at Prisma Health.
  • BLS, RRT, AARC Membership Required. NBRC credentials must be maintained.
  • Certification required may include any or all of the following depending on the unit: ACLS, NRP, FCCS, CAM Class, or PALS.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Respiratory Care or other health care related field.
  • Critical thinking, problem-solving, planning, organizational skills, teamwork, and adaptability along with advanced knowledge of clinical and healthcare business practices required.
