Job Summary

The VETERANS HEALTH ADMINISTRATION is seeking a highly skilled Physical Therapy Assistant to join our team at the Ralph H. Johnson Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Charleston, SC. As an integral member of our healthcare team, you will work closely with physical therapists and other interdisciplinary healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to our patients.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist physical therapists in conducting patient evaluations, developing treatment plans, and implementing interventions.
  • Perform various physical therapy modalities, including therapeutic exercise, balance training, gait training, and manual therapy.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care coordination.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient progress and outcomes.
  • Participate in ongoing education and professional development to stay current with best practices and advances in physical therapy.

Requirements:

  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted license as a Physical Therapy Assistant in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or District of Columbia.
  • Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant education program.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work collaboratively with diverse patient populations and healthcare teams.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with ability to adapt to changing situations and priorities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in an outpatient orthopedic setting.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practice and outcome measurement tools.
  • Ability to speak a second language (e.g., Spanish).
