New Mexico Donor Services, a designated organ procurement organization within the state of New Mexico and part of the DCI Donor Services family, has been a leader in working to end the transplant waiting list for over four decades.
We operate nationwide donation, transplantation, and distribution of organs and tissues while maintaining close ties to our local communities through our three organ procurement/tissue recovery organizations: New Mexico Donor Services, Sierra Donor Services, and Tennessee Donor Services.
Additionally, we maximize the gift of life through the DCI Donor Services Tissue Bank and Sierra Donor Services Eye Bank. Our performance is measured by the way we serve donor families and recipients, with the ultimate mission being to be successful in this endeavor.
Salary: $54,464 - $65,657 per year
Job Description
The Referral Response Coordinator provides on-call coverage that may fluctuate according to call activity and/or staff requirements. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of emergency or critical care experience in a healthcare setting, prior experience as a Paramedic or EMT, and demonstrated ability to understand medical terminology and read a medical chart.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate the donation process through coordination and communication of referral information and logistics, and appropriate routing of donor referrals and requests from externals.
- Maintain accurate documentation of the medical screening process via data entry and follow established referral intake procedures.
- Evaluate the medical suitability of potential organ and tissue donors by utilizing information from medical records, personal histories, physical examinations, and current health status, transcribing health information into electronic medical records.
- Request and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests needed for evaluation of suitability and clinical management of potential donors.
- Collaborate with hospital personnel and clinical teams to develop an action plan that supports the option of donation and activation of the appropriate DCIDS team members.
- Participate in training, process improvement, departmental QA/QC activities, and special projects as directed.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- 2+ years of emergency or critical care experience in a healthcare setting
- Prior experience as a Paramedic or EMT
- Demonstrated ability to understand medical terminology and read a medical chart
- Exceptional teamwork, communication, and conflict management skills
- Valid Driver's license with ability to pass MVR underwriting requirements
