At the Department of State Hospitals - Atascadero, we are seeking a dedicated Mental Health Support Specialist to join our team.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating a clean, safe, and therapeutic environment for patients. This includes applying mental health principles and relationship security with patients, supervising patient activities, performing custody tasks, and conducting shakedowns to identify security breaches.

As a key member of our team, you will observe and intervene in patient behavior that may injure people or damage property. You will also perform nursing procedures such as administering medications, observing patient physical condition, and reporting significant changes to shift supervisors or physicians.

To succeed in this role, you must have a valid license to practice as a Psychiatric Technician issued by the BVNPTE. As a retired State civil service employee, you will work within the Secured Treatment Area (STA) and follow strict guidelines to ensure patient safety.

We offer a competitive salary of $5,673.00 - $6,599.00 S, $5,864.00 - $6,993.00 T, and $6,079.00 - $7,249.00 U per year, depending on your experience and qualifications.

This is a limited-term position lasting 12 months, with potential extension or cancellation at any time.
