Job Overview

Hirsch is seeking a highly experienced and visionary Vice President of Engineering to lead our global engineering team in driving technical innovation and delivering cutting-edge products and services worldwide.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership to the engineering division on a global scale and across various cultures.
  • Drive innovation and continuous process improvement across teams and disciplines.
  • Define and execute the technical strategy that aligns with Hirsch's global objectives and positions us as a leader in physical security and identification.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams across different regions, fostering a cohesive and collaborative work environment.
  • Oversee and manage interdisciplinary engineering projects, ensuring seamless integration of software and hardware components.
  • Monitor progress, mitigate risks, and ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget, considering diverse regulatory environments and cultural nuances.
  • Build a strategic technology roadmap to support our product roadmap for many years.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant global industry standards, regulations, and certifications related to digital security and identification.
  • Effectively communicate with executive leadership and stakeholders across different regions, providing updates on engineering initiatives, progress, and performance.
  • Contribute to strategic decision-making and resource allocation to support global growth.
  • Bring your deep expertise in digital security and identification technologies to bear, including encryption methods, biometrics, authentication protocols, secure hardware design, and secure communication protocols.
  • Ensure our products and solutions meet the highest international standards of security and compliance.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's (or Master's) degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in engineering, with a strong focus on global digital security and identification solutions.
  • Proven track record of successful leadership and management of engineering teams on an international scale, driving technical excellence and innovation.
  • Expertise in digital security technologies, secure hardware design, authentication protocols, and encryption methods.
  • Strong understanding of product design and architecture concepts and their integration with hardware and software systems.
  • Proven experience in software delivery, DevOps, CI/CD, and IaC practices.
  • Proven experience with public cloud providers, particularly AWS and/or Azure.
  • Demonstrated ability to review and contribute to product specifications and architecture.
  • Strong understanding of Cloud Native architecture and scaling.
  • Deep knowledge of both software, firmware, and hardware development processes.
  • Proven track record of developing highly performant projects using both Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
  • Knowledge of international industry standards and regulations related to cybersecurity (e.g., FIPS, Common Criteria), regulatory compliance (FCC, CE), and industry certifications (UL).
  • Demonstrated ability to work across technologies and disciplines.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to align engineering initiatives with global business goals and varying market demands.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities in a global context.
  • Proven ability to adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic international environment and manage multiple global priorities.
