Residential Instructor

Community Residences is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Residential Instructor to join our team. As a Residential Instructor, you will be responsible for creating a nurturing and supportive environment for individuals with developmental disabilities. Your primary goal will be to help clients develop the skills and strategies needed to live independently and safely.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Develop and implement individualized plans of care to meet the unique needs of each client.
2. Provide direct support and supervision to clients, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
3. Assist clients with daily living tasks, such as meal preparation, household management, and personal care.
4. Monitor and report any changes in client behavior or medical conditions to the Program Manager and RN Coordinator.
5. Administer medication to clients as prescribed, following agency policy and regulatory standards.
6. Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge in the field of developmental disabilities.
7. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure seamless communication and coordination of client care.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
• At least two years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
• Valid CT driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to lift and transfer 70-75 pounds.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Working Conditions:

This is a full-time position, working Friday-Saturday, 3pm-11pm. The Residential Instructor will be required to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and responsibilities. The ability to work effectively in a team environment and maintain a calm and professional demeanor in challenging situations is essential.
