Shelter Security Specialist

The Salvation Army USA Central Territory is seeking a Shelter Monitor to maintain shelter security, perform clerical duties, handle receptionist tasks, and provide general assistance to guests and residents.
This part-time position requires less than 19 hours of work per week with a starting pay range between $15.00-$16.00 per hour.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the safety of residents in the building and on the grounds by actively observing people and happenings.
- Consistently enforce shelter policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Intervene when necessary to resolve problems between residents.
- Complete pre-screening actions to determine intake eligibility and process new individuals seeking admission.
- Document incidents occurring during the shift in the daily shelter log record.
- Obtain and maintain statistics of attendance at meetings and screenings.
- Update and maintain the daily client list on the computer.
- Enter client data into the HMIS database when authorized.
- Conduct regular bed checks and security passes throughout the building.
- Answer incoming calls and greet visitors, distributing messages as needed.
Requirements:
- High school/GED Certificate with one year of work experience.
- Combination of training and work experience will be considered.
- Must be a team player, self-starter, and perform well with minimal supervision.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, initiative, and independent judgment and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work with diverse and challenging personalities.
- Must possess or obtain Adult and Child CPR, First Aid, and Blood Borne Pathogens certification within three months.
- Complete HMIS training within three months for select shifts.
