Job Summary

This is a challenging opportunity for a highly skilled Project Development Engineer to join the Central Regional Design Division of the New Mexico Department of Transportation. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and submitting construction project plan sets and production packages. Your expertise in road design specifications, codes, and manuals will be essential in ensuring compliance with NMDOT standards and federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and develop construction project plan sets and production packages
- Coordinate with NMDOT support groups to ensure project compliance
- Facilitate project milestone meetings and document meeting outcomes
- Compile production packages for projects
- Answer design-related questions during construction

Requirements

- Bachelor of Science degree in a relevant engineering discipline
- Licensure as a Licensed Professional Engineer in good standing
- Six years of engineering experience, with two years as a Licensed Professional Engineer
- Certification by the NMBLPEPS as a Licensed Professional Engineer

Working Conditions

This position is based in an office setting with extensive computer and phone usage. Field exposure at active construction sites may be required, and travel throughout the state and occasionally out of state may be necessary. A valid driver's license and current Defensive Driving Course certificate are required. Successful completion of a pre-employment physical exam is also required.
