Strategic Business Development Manager for Autonomous Systems

We are seeking a seasoned Business Development Manager to join our Government business development team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for driving business development, managing business operations, and identifying new opportunities in the Federal space.
About the Role- Plan and execute business development for Autonomy, Robotics, AI, and Automation for Defense customers.
- Assist with Defense business strategy planning and operations.
- Understand customer requirements and translate them to Product and Engineering teams.
You will report to our General Manager-Government and partner cross-functionally across Product, Engineering, Sales, Marketing, and Operations. This is a uniquely strategic and operational role with a mix of both internal and external-facing responsibilities.
Your Key Responsibilities- Establish relationships with partner Defense prime contractors, Defense Program Executive Offices, and other relevant DOD organizations.
- Develop and maintain a robust opportunity pipeline in CRM.
- Capture new business in alignment with Applied's technical expertise and Defense strategic roadmap.
- Assist with development of a detailed annual Defense business development plan.
- Coordinate, lead, and/or support proposal activities.
- 5+ years of experience in the Department of Defense ecosystem - Industry, Service, Joint, or Office of the Secretary of Defense - doing business development, or a related role.
- Experience with Autonomy, Automation, or Artificial Intelligence technologies and their applications to National Security and Defense.
- Bachelor's and/or Master's in a technical field.
- Ability to execute thoughtfully and efficiently, with a 'no task is too big or too small' mindset.
- Willingness to wear many hats and execute with a 'can-do' attitude.
- Passion for building a deep understanding of autonomous systems applications to National Security and Defense.
Estimated salary: $120,000 - $180,000 per year based on location and experience.
