Broadcast Design Engineer

Diversified is seeking a highly skilled Broadcast Design Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Media and Entertainment division, you will be responsible for designing and implementing technical systems for broadcast and media applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in complex engagements and work directly with clients and project teams to develop budgets, timelines, and manage expectations.
- Negotiate changes in deliverables and schedules and serve as an escalation point for engineering issues.
- Conceptualize system designs and determine system requirements.
- Provide technical expertise and coordination information to support base building tasks performed by others and planning of audio, video, and control solutions.
- Oversee and/or develop the Bill of Materials (BOM) and supporting documentation.
- Employ detailed design documentation strategy based on established engineering standard practices.
- Track engineering team tasks to completion.
- Generate functional system descriptions, complete block wiring diagrams, rack elevations, custom plates, or cabling assemblies.
- Research, identify, and recommend technology options for clients and projects.
- Provide technical expertise for the creation of and later reconciliation of the complete construction drawing package, support documentation for installation and coordination with architect and other trades.
- Test, configure, and commission subsystems during project deployment.
- Support projects and teams in build phase. Complete the as-built drawings for service hand-over.
- Provide regular project engineering milestone status updates to Technical Operations resource planning.
- Develop expertise in the industry through ongoing review of trade publications, participation in industry trade shows, seminars, and educational forums.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate/bachelor's degree required and/or equivalent experience.
- Proficient in AutoCAD and MS Office 365.
- 3+ years' experience in designing M&E technical systems.
- Experience with high-end AV equipment integration and broadcast systems.
- An understanding of TCP/IP routing and switching, ACLs, QoS, VLANs, and DNS protocol.
- Demonstrated knowledge of broadcast technology, equipment, facilities, and production systems used in the M&E / Broadcast industry.
- A clear understanding of M&E project phases; Presales, Program, Conceptualization, Schematic Design, Design Development, Installation Documentation, Integration, Configuration, and Commissioning.
- An understanding of the construction process as well as architectural and construction drawings and specifications.
- Practiced in data organization with a basic understanding of data visualization through dashboarding and/or diagramming integrations.
- Familiarity with virtual compute and storage concepts.
- Exceptional time management skills with a track record for meeting deadlines.
- Proven track record of successfully completing engineering projects.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to analyze complex issues and communicate concise, succinct messages.
- High level of problems-solving and technical troubleshooting skills.
- A basic understanding of broadcast system orchestration and resource delegation functions is a plus.
- Familiarity with broadcast standard video formats including high-definition, UHD, and HDR video systems, deployed using SDI and SMPTE 2110-20/-22 IP transport. Experience with other streaming media network protocols is a plus.
- Familiarity with networked audio systems and transport protocols including 2110-30, AES-67, Ravenna, and Dante is a plus.
- Experience with other business applications a plus (Smartsheet, LucidChart, Google suite, etc).
Network Specialties:
- Advanced Routing Expertise: Proficient in advanced routing protocols and techniques, including OSPF, BGP, and EIGRP, to optimize network performance and reliability.
- Multicast Routing Specialization: In-depth expertise in MCAST routing, understanding various multicast protocols such as PIM, IGMP, and DVMRP, and their applications in network environments.
- Data Flow Diagram Development: Skilled in developing Data Flow Diagrams to accurately represent network routing paths, data processing, and storage.
- Network Topology Design: Ability to design and modify network topologies to facilitate efficient routing, including multicast and unicast flows.
- Security Implementation in Routing: Knowledgeable in implementing security measures within routing configurations to protect network integrity and data.
- Quality of Service (QoS) Configuration: Skilled in configuring QoS to prioritize network traffic, essential for effective multicast and unicast routing.
Compensation:
The compensation range for this position is $81,200.00 - $124,100.00 per year, depending on location and experience.
Travel:
Occasional travel by car and airplane trips are required. Employee must possess a valid driver's license in their state of residence. Employee will be required to use their own vehicle and will be reimbursed for mileage at the current corporate rate. Local travel to job sites (within a 2-hour driving distance each way) will make up 90% usually, but remote travel can be up to 30% of the job at times.
