We are seeking an experienced Community Advocacy Director to join our team at the Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey.

About the Role

This is a dynamic opportunity for a skilled professional to drive government affairs strategies, build relationships with key stakeholders, and represent our organization's interests in the region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute comprehensive government affairs plans to promote our goals and objectives.
  • Bid and maintain strategic relationships with congressional offices, committees, executive branch agencies, and departments relevant to our policy priorities.
  • Present our organization's voice at meetings, hearings, and other events to ensure our concerns are addressed.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to analyze the impact of proposed regulations and legislation on our organization and develop appropriate responses and action plans.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to determine strategy, input on policy positions, and resource priorities.
  • Conduct thorough research analysis on government policies, initiatives, and trends that may impact our organization.
  • Strategize government relations work, including monitoring major developments on relevant issues, and identifying opportunities to provide analysis to policymakers.
  • Share funding opportunities to support our agencies' goals and mission, and assist grant writers with research and data to submit grants at local, state, and federal levels.
  • Prepare and deliver engaging presentations, reports, and other materials to effectively communicate our organization's positions and priorities to government officials and other stakeholders.
  • Foster coalition building and partnership development with other organizations and industry groups to amplify our advocacy efforts.
  • Stay informed about industry best practices and trends in government affairs on all levels to continuously improve our strategies and approaches.
  • Manage budgets, resources, and timelines related to government affairs initiatives.
  • Track engagement metrics to help improve productivity over time.
  • Collaborate with national IFNA government affairs to advocate for national efforts.
Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree (minimum) in political science, international affairs, history, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in government relations, public policy, lobbying, issues management, or crisis communications.
  • Strong knowledge of government processes, legislative and regulatory frameworks, and public policy issues.
  • Proven track record of successfully advocating for an organization's interests in government settings.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to articulate complex ideas and influence decision makers.
  • Previous experience working with government officials and policymakers at various levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills to prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities to navigate complex processes and issues.

The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience. The Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
