We are seeking an Advanced Practice Provider to join our Transplant Surgery team at Atrium Health-Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.
About the RoleThe Transplant Surgery Advanced Practice Provider will provide comprehensive clinical care to transplant patients and donors in the pre-, peri-, and post-transplant phases of care.
- Work with world-renowned Abdominal Transplant Surgeons and highly experienced Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) who deliver exceptional care for diseases of the liver, kidney, and pancreas through transplantation.
- Provide patient education on disease and transplantation process, pre- and post-operative care, and discharge instructions.
The Nocturnist Transplant APP will function primarily in the inpatient setting caring for acute and chronically ill patients listed for transplant, perioperative of the transplant procedure and post-transplant up to 4 months.
- Support transplant surgery, transplant nephrology, and transplant hepatology teams.
- Manage adult and pediatric patients with complex surgical diseases and disorders of the liver, pancreas, and kidney.
- Maintain awareness of patient monitoring and respond appropriately to potential complications.
To be successful in this role, you must have:
- A DEA license and eligibility to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in NC.
- BLS for Healthcare Provider from AHA with expiration date greater than 90 days from date of beginning practice.
- Critical thinking, interpersonal skills, and the ability to prioritize and make proactive decisions.
Nurse Practitioner: Masters Degree or Doctorate of Nursing Practice, License to practice as a Registered Nurse, Certification in the area of practice from a nationally recognized certifying body, Acute Care board certification based upon population and acuity served.
Physician Assistant: Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program, Masters Degree preferred, Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants preferred.
