Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Senior Design Engineer to join our team at Fluor. This role will involve working on complex piping layout and design, as well as providing technical expertise to promote Fluor's competitiveness in the global marketplace.

Job Summary:

The primary responsibility of this position is to provide essential technical knowledge and perform work listed. Key duties include conducting reviews of models using 3D review platforms, creating 3D models of moderate to advanced complexity, applying project drawing standards to design drawings and 3D layout, preparing 2D CAD drawings of advanced complexity, reviewing drawings and vendor equipment documentation for compliance with project requirements, performing bulk material take-off analysis, adhering to industry codes and standards, and other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Accredited two (2) year degree or global equivalent in a technical field of study, or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to fifteen (15) years;
  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors;
  • Job-related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job;
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines;
  • Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner;
  • Knowledge of commercial availability and cost of materials;
  • Practical field experience;
  • Intermediate computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet, and electronic presentation programs;
  • Advanced knowledge of 2D CAD and 3D CAD systems and procedures; NWS; 3D modeling software (Intergraph S3D, P3D, or PDMS); Fluor design guides, Piping technical practices, Piping design drawings; Piping design requirements (equipment arrangement, piping layout, stress requirements, and material requirements); Working knowledge of and ability to interpret Piping and Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID), update master P&ID and pipeline list.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Perform 3D piping layout and equipment modeling;
  • Produce and check complex piping drawings including plot plans, piping plans, isometrics, and sketches;
  • Develop home office effort-hour, installed costs, material, and drawing requirement estimates;
  • Provide assistance to construction and pipe fabrication personnel.

Salary Range:

$92,500 to $171,500 per year, based on location, qualifications, relevant years of experience, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
