Medical Laboratory Scientist I Per Diem

At Atlantic Health System, we are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Scientist I to join our dynamic Blood Bank team on a per diem basis. This role is an exciting opportunity for a professional to work in a fast-paced environment and contribute to the delivery of exceptional patient care.
Responsibilities- Perform a variety of routine and complex technical tasks in the performance of laboratory tests to obtain data for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.
- Comfortable with emergency situations such as Massive Transfusion Protocols' and Emergency Release', issuing uncrossmatched blood according to laboratory approved procedures.
- Inspect/issues compatible blood and blood products for transfusion, and performs visual and temperature check on returned blood; disposes of improperly stored/labeled, punctured, outdated, contaminated or hemolyzed blood according to approved procedures.
- Monitor blood and blood product inventory to ensure adequate supply for patient transfusion, orders blood and blood products when indicated; monitors inventory of reagents and other Blood Bank supplies and notifies Blood Bank Supervisor or Leads when supply is low.
- Participate in the training and instruction of new MLS' hired in the Blood Bank.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Documented training as defined in the CLIA regulation 42CFR493.1489(b) Non-degree semester hours in medical technology, clinical laboratory, chemical, physical, or biological science will be evaluated as defined in the CLIA regulation 42CFR493.1489(b) required ASCP eligible required.
- Bachelor's degree in chemical, physical or biological science or medical laboratory technology/ medical or clinical laboratory science preferred Associate's degree in chemical, physical or biological science or medical laboratory technology/ medical or clinical laboratory science and experience as defined in the CLIA regulation 42CFR493.1489(b) preferred If major is not specified on diploma, transcript required If foreign degree, foreign equivalency documents required.
- Minimum 2 years Blood Bank experience preferred, if applicable New MLS/ CLS/ MLT/ AAS graduates welcome.
Able to work using critical thinking skills, decisive judgment Able to work independently with minimal supervision Able to work in a dynamic environment.

Estimated Salary Range$65,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on experience.
