The Railcar Repair Specialist position is a great opportunity for a resilient, team-minded individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

  • Conducts railcar inspections to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Performs repairs as necessary, utilizing current repair procedures and best practices.
  • Meets customer expectations and requirements to deliver an exceptional customer experience.
  • Ensures accurate and complete invoicing, inspection, and work order information.
  • Has the ability to pass required NDT disciplines and function-specific certifications, including tank car welding.
  • Strong familiarity with AAR rules and regulations is essential.
  • Actively participates in safety assessments and equipment inspections.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and from elevated heights as required.
  • Able to perform confined space monitoring and create hot work permits.
  • Follows all safety rules and practices.
  • May be involved in safety committees or initiatives.
  • May be required to have a valid driver's license and good driving record.
  • Understands and completes all basic required on-board training in regard to safety and quality.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What you'll need:

  • Ability to learn major railcar components and basic functions.
  • Will work under the direct supervision of a Career Mobile Technician or higher position to perform specific repair processes.
  • Ability to use hand tools such as hammers, torches, wrenches, hydraulic jacks, pneumatic tools, and others as required.
  • May be required to obtain specialized qualification and training in one of the following: Air Brake Testing, Welding, Gasket Valves and Fasteners, BLTII, PTII, VTII, Qualified Coating Applicator, Qualified Coating Inspector, Qualified Abrasive Blaster, or other qualifications as applicable.
  • Any type of welding/Valve/mechanical experience or railcar knowledge is preferred.
  • Valid Driver's License (Motor Vehicle Report will be reviewed).
