Join Our Team as a Hospitalist Physician

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Hospitalist Physician to join our team at West Virginia University School of Medicine. As a key member of our Department of Medicine, Section of Hospital Medicine, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care, teaching medical students, residents, and fellows, and contributing to the growth and development of our academic hospitalist section.

  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical programs and services
Qualifications
  • MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent
  • Eligibility for state medical license
  • Completion of an Internal Medicine residency program
  • Board certification or eligibility in Internal Medicine

We are a growing academic hospitalist section that affords the faculty member teaching opportunities of residents, medical students, and advanced practice providers in both a one-on-one setting, as well as rounding teams covering inpatient consults for the Department of Medicine. We are a large tertiary care center that has extensive consultation support and cross department/section collaboration for those faculty members interested in subspecialty fellowship training.

In addition, our section has numerous specialty service lines that offer an opportunity for providers to manage a wide variety of patients including cardiovascular, oncology, end-stage renal disease, long-term antibiotic infusion, geriatric fracture service, complicated infectious disease, and post-acute care patients.

The West Virginia University Health System is West Virginia's largest health system and the state's largest employer. The System has undergone significant expansion in specialty and sub-specialty care in areas such as cancer, heart and vascular, and neuroscience, among many others.

The Health System operates West Virginia's first and only multi-organ transplant center, and opened a new, 150-bed Children's Hospital in September 2022.

Today, the WVU Health System has more than 2,400 licensed beds, 3,900 providers, and nearly 30,000 employees. Anchored by a 700-bed academic medical center in Morgantown, the Health System includes more than 20 member hospitals that collectively serve a multi-state region that includes West Virginia, Western Maryland, Eastern Ohio, and Southwestern Pennsylvania.
