Supply Chain Logistics Coordinator

About the Role:
The Supply and Purchasing Assistant II will play a key role in supporting the Maritime Division of M.C. Dean, Inc. in Chesapeake, VA. This position involves a variety of tasks, including assisting with routine and high-dollar value buying/purchasing tasks, obtaining quotes from vendors, and reviewing purchase requisitions.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with buying/purchasing tasks, including obtaining quotes from suppliers and reviewing purchase requisitions.
- Place orders with approved suppliers and follow up to ensure timely delivery.
- Use websites to research and determine parts and material information.
- General understanding of logistics and purchasing principles.
- Inspect and receive materials and equipment.
- Assist in preparing materials for shipment and storage.
- Track material orders and shipments.
- Utilize computerized inventory systems.
- Comply with hazardous materials handling requirements.
- Use MS Word and MS Excel to document material inventory for projects.
Requirements:
- 2 years of experience in material tracking and logistics.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Eligibility for a DoD clearance.
- Valid driver's license.
Physical Abilities:
- Lift at least 100 pounds at one time and 60 pounds for an extended period.
- Relocate a 12-foot stepladder without assistance.
- Work at various heights up to 60 feet and climb/maintain balance on scaffolds and ladders.
- Walk/climb/squat/crawl/kneel/push/pull/reach overhead on a routine basis.
- Good vision, ability to see in color, and hear/communicate in English.
