Fleet Equipment Technician Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Fleet Equipment Technician to join our team at the City of College Station, TX. As a key member of our Public Works Department, you will be responsible for the repair, maintenance, and inspection of heavy trucks, heavy and small equipment, and vehicles used in support of City operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine repairs and maintenance on heavy equipment and vehicles
  • Conduct state inspections and ensure all vehicles meet safety standards
  • Diagnose and repair malfunctions of electrical and computer components
  • Test and repair malfunctions of vehicle and equipment computer, electrical, and mechanical components
  • Perform oil changes, tune-ups, and complete brake service and repairs
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • One year technical training in a field related to area of assignment or one year automotive/equipment repair experience
  • State Inspector Certification within six months of hire date
  • Class C Drivers license or State of Texas Class B CDL
  • Basic understanding of mechanical and automotive principles
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Completion of automotive trade school
  • ASE or EVT Certification in the automotive or truck field
  • Two years automotive/equipment repair experience
