State and Local Tax Manager Job Description

Moss Adams LLP is seeking a highly skilled State and Local Tax Manager to join our team. As a State and Local Tax Manager, you will be responsible for managing clients and their needs, performing technical reviews of partnership and corporate state tax returns, and assisting with various tax consulting projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage clients and their needs, providing exceptional service and support.
  • Perform technical reviews of partnership and corporate state tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with tax laws.
  • Assist with various tax consulting projects, including research and writing projects related to tax planning, nexus studies, voluntary disclosure applications, audit defense, and penalty abatement.
  • Analyze taxpayer data to identify opportunities for prospects and clients.
  • Stay up-to-date on state and local tax law changes, ensuring our clients are informed and compliant.
  • Participate in business development activities, helping to grow our firm's external branding.
  • Develop internal relationships within the firm, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of related tax experience, preferably in public accounting.
  • CPA, JD, or LLM Taxation preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
