The Manufacturing Operations Director will oversee and direct all aspects of plant operations to drive revenue growth, profitability, and excellence in manufacturing while fostering a collaborative work environment that promotes employee engagement and ownership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor plant activity, internal systems, and operations for accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.
  • Control significant manufacturing projects, plan facility assignments, set priorities, and ensure timely execution.
  • Motivate the workforce by outlining methods to surpass company goals and objectives while maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Ensure proper safety protocols, equipment, and work methods are followed, maintaining awareness of unsafe conditions and practices.
  • Lead the facility's safety process with cross-functional teams implementing behavioral-based safety systems.
  • Monitor operational costs to established budgets, reviewing sales forecasts to adjust operations for maximum profitability.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize location infrastructure to meet customer demands.
  • Resolve problems by adjusting priorities, schedules, and workforce reassignments.
  • Control obsolete inventory, provide accurate inventory models, and implement quality management systems.
  • Monitor corrective actions to improve quality, efficiency, service, profits, and ensure contractual obligations are met.
  • Sufficient capacity is maintained for product delivery, and all internal and external reporting is reviewed and analyzed.
  • Determine areas of cost reduction and improvement by analyzing operations and staff performance.
  • Understand and comply with all Company policies, approve work completion, and monitor performance.
  • Champion Continuous Improvement, leading the team to develop actions that eliminate waste and drive process improvements through KPI boards.
  • Conduct employee meetings, counseling, and resolve team member issues.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly performance updates to present to management, highlighting improvements and abnormal conditions.
  • Travel to other locations, customers, and suppliers may be required (less than 25%).

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree with 2+ years of manufacturing leadership experience or equivalent.
  • Five to seven years of increasingly responsible experience in a manufacturing facility.
  • Proven ability to work with cross-functional teams and lead project management environments.
  • Strong leadership skills, proven track record of managing multiple departments or shifts.
  • Knowledge of business principles, human resources modeling, leadership techniques, production methods, and resource allocation.
  • Must possess qualities critical for managerial success, including self-confidence, motivation, decisiveness, flexibility, sound business judgment, and determination.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and specific assembly operations.
  • Able to consider relationships between numerous factors, extract data from written sources, and analyze performance.
  • Ability to lead Root Cause Analysis and develop tools to track, manage, and maintain quality systems.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills.
