Job Overview

The Counter Sales Representative plays a vital role in supporting our goal of delivering exceptional customer experiences at Schaedler Yesco Distribution. This position is responsible for providing top-notch counter support, showcasing outstanding customer service skills, and upholding quality and efficiency standards. Working closely with sales and operations teams, you will deliver personalized experiences that meet and exceed customer expectations, promoting and supporting our products and services.

Responsibilities:
  • Offer product information and assistance to diverse customers at counters
  • Help customers select and apply products effectively
  • Provide insights into SYD's credit policy, delivery options, in-house services, and training events
  • Furnish accurate product availability and delivery information to customers
  • Makes recommendations for stock items or customer service stock based on branch sales/customer inquiries
  • Ensure the counter area remains organized, clean, and well-maintained, including stocked shelves, bins, and pegs
  • Promote and maintain current vendor/manufacturer promotional materials, displays, banners, sales collateral, and reference tools in the counter area
  • Oversight of products on bid and/or sales orders, including purchasing from vendors and/or manufacturers, resolving customer problems, communicating lead times, ensuring delivery of order, and processing credits
  • Collaborate with vendors to obtain special pricing when applicable
  • Grow sales and gross margin through effective strategies
  • Utilize vendor websites for product searches, pricing, availability, and cut sheets
  • Review and manage daily reports and queues to maintain accurate prioritization and necessary follow-up on bids, open orders, and credits
  • Manage Will Call orders, which may involve calling customers, shipping orders, canceling orders, etc.
  • Perform cycle counts, maintain inventory accuracy, and location accuracy
  • Handle all inbound and outbound communications professionally and timely
  • Keep daily schedule, e-mail, and voicemail up-to-date to reflect current activities
  • Work with Customer Experience Manager and/or Outside Sales to keep account pricing relevant and contact information up-to-date
  • Make outbound calls to house accounts or prospects to grow business as requested by your manager
  • Assist customers with safely loading their vehicles with purchased products
  • Pursue continuing education related to Schaedler Yesco Distribution products, services, and solutions
Qualifications:
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive and/or customer-related information
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills with good sales tactics
  • Showcase excellent time management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Be proficient with Microsoft Office or related software
  • Have customer service experience
  • Be willing to continually educate oneself regarding newly available products
  • Previous experience working in electrical sales or distribution is required
  • Must have experience utilizing Microsoft Office products
  • Previous experience working in a retail or sales environment is preferred
  • Able to maintain a customer service-focused approach to all customer interactions
  • Show strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Able and willing to collaborate with different Schaedler Yesco Distribution departments as needed to meet customer needs
  • Ability to analyze workload and establish priorities based upon customer demand and time-sensitive tasks
  • Make sound decisions that ensure customer satisfaction while adhering to Schaedler Yesco Distribution guidelines and practices
Additional Information:
  • This position operates primarily in a Counter i.e., retail location. It requires the use of computers, internet, phones, and point-of-sale technology
  • Lift up to 50 pounds at a time
  • Work on their feet for prolonged periods
  • Safely traverse the warehouse floor when applicable
  • Ability to use a keyboard and type proficiently
  • Talk and hear, both in-person and via telephone
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision and ability to adjust focus

We estimate an annual salary range of $45,000-$60,000, depending on qualifications and experience.
