    • Ensure all necessary documentation is completed before each procedure.
    • Verify patient identity and screening criteria to guarantee safety, including checking for implanted devices, contrast agent allergies, or pregnancy.
    • Prepare and position the MRI room by confirming the machine and equipment are ready for use.
  • Conducting MRI Scans:
    • Operate MRI machines, adjusting settings as prescribed by physicians to obtain high-quality images.
    • Position patients comfortably on the MRI table while adhering to safety standards.
    • Administer contrast agents as ordered by physicians to enhance image clarity, monitoring patients for adverse reactions.
    • Ensure patients remain still during scans to capture clear, high-resolution images.
    • Monitor the scanning process to confirm quality imaging and make adjustments as needed.
  • Patient Safety and Comfort:
    • Guarantee patient safety throughout the MRI procedure, particularly concerning strong magnetic fields, by verifying no ferrous objects are present.
    • Keep patients informed during scans, offering reassurance and instructions as required to maintain comfort.
    • Monitor patient vital signs during scans to detect potential issues or discomfort.
    • Ensure proper patient positioning to prevent injuries or discomfort during imaging.
  • Post-Procedure Care:
    • Assist patients off the MRI table after procedures and verify their stability and comfort.
    • Provide post-procedure instructions, including follow-up treatments, care for injection sites (if contrast agents were used), and other necessary aftercare guidance.
    • Ensure any required post-scan imaging or additional scans are scheduled as needed.
    • Address immediate concerns or side effects patients may experience, especially if contrast agents were administered.
  • Maintenance and Equipment Care:
    • Ensure regular calibration and functioning of MRI machines, performing basic maintenance and troubleshooting when necessary.
    • Clean and disinfect the MRI suite and equipment between patients to adhere to infection control protocols.
    • Monitor equipment performance, identify malfunctions, and alert appropriate staff for repairs or servicing.
  • Collaboration with Medical Team:

    • Work with healthcare professionals to review images, assess follow-up scan requirements, and discuss patient conditions.
    • Collaborate with radiologists to ensure final images meet diagnostic standards and are transmitted accurately to relevant physicians for review.
  • Documentation and Record-Keeping:
    • Document all relevant patient information and scan results in the electronic health record, ensuring complete and accurate records.
    • Ensure imaging data is properly labeled and uploaded into the system, and assist with reports or communications as needed.
    • Maintain logs of equipment usage, maintenance, and any issues encountered during procedures.
  • Radiation Safety and Protocols:
    • While MRI does not use ionizing radiation, ensure safety by following guidelines for handling contrast agents and equipment that could pose risks to patients.
    • Adhere to radiation safety standards for other imaging technologies used in the department, such as X-ray or CT equipment.
    • Follow established safety protocols, including magnetic field safety, to avoid accidents or injuries.
  • Professional Development and Training:
    • Stay current with the latest MRI technology, scanning techniques, and patient care practices.
    • Participate in continuing education programs and obtain necessary certifications to maintain licensure and improve professional skills.
    • Assist in training new MRI technologists or students on MRI machine operation and best practices in patient care.
