Material Handler III

Johnstone Supply, a leading wholesale distributor of HVACR equipment, parts, and supplies, is seeking a highly skilled Material Handler III to join our team at our Joliet distribution center. As a Material Handler III, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and safe operation of our warehouse, handling high-height power equipment, and processing store orders on a daily basis.
Key Responsibilities- Operate High-Height Power Equipment: Safely and efficiently operate order pickers and reach trucks to pick and process store orders.
- Fulfill Store Orders: Fill store orders by picking items according to section number, packing them into cartons, and stacking them to minimize shipping damage.
- Document Shipments: Document the shipment of hazardous materials by labeling cartons correctly and completing necessary paperwork.
- Prepare Orders for Shipment: Prepare trucks for shipments, palletize and wrap orders, load pallets and pieces into trucks, and complete necessary paperwork.
- Maintain Department Standards: Maintain current department accuracy and efficiency standards and follow department standard operating procedures.
- Ensure a Safe Work Environment: Work in a safe manner, follow current Distribution safety rules, and maintain a clean work area.
- Assist with Receiving and Stocking: Assist the Receiving Department with processing, stocking, and replenishing stock.
- Train New Employees: Participate in training new employees in Material Handler's duties by modeling duties and answering questions.
- Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Physical Demands: The employee is required to stand and walk on a concrete floor through a warehouse for the majority of the workday. The employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Warehouse Environment: Large warehouse with racks and bins, most work is performed using forklifts, pallet jacks, and RF scanner. Climate can be extremely hot or cold depending on the season.
