Anesthesia Care Specialist Job Summary

At Advocate Health, we are seeking a highly skilled Anesthesia Care Specialist to join our team. As an Anesthesia Care Specialist, you will work under the direction of an anesthesiologist to provide anesthesia services to patients undergoing surgical or medical procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer intravenous, spinal, and other anesthetics as directed by the anesthesiologist.
  • Monitor patient reactions and vital signs during and after anesthesia, taking remedial action when necessary.
  • Submit postoperative reports on patient condition and maintain records of anesthetics administered.
  • Provide anesthesia services under the direction of an anesthesiologist, including general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care.
  • Perform pre-anesthesia functions, including determining patient suitability for anesthesia and reviewing patient condition prior to induction.
  • Perform post-anesthesia duties, including remaining with the patient until safe transfer of care and advising personnel on post-anesthetic care.

Requirements:

  • Master's Degree in Anesthesia.
  • Anesthesiologist Assistant license issued by the state of Wisconsin.
  • Anesthesiologist Assistant (AA-C) certification issued by the National Commission for Certification of Anesthesiologist Assistants (NCCAA).
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (ACLS) issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
