Position: Maintenance Tech Location: Detroit, MI

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Operate and tend to fully automated manufacturing equipment, including robotics and fixed automation equipment.
  2. Coordinate the process/procedures as it relates to welding for new product launches and current production.
  3. Set up of robotic weld operations and Poke-yoke apparatus
  4. Required to assist Maintenance team with the repair of other production equipment and facility.
  5. Fixture modification and adjustments
  6. Operate and program robotic cells
  7. Responsible for verifying and documenting changes to process parameters
  8. Assist Quality & Engineers as needed
  9. Troubleshoot machinery and equipment
  10. Works to eliminate downtime. Identifies and eliminates sources of downtime and extraneous variation through root cause analysis and implementation of corrective measures with Engineering Teams
  11. Interpret and understand inline quality and machine readouts and adjust settings to accommodate for material variance/ quality requirements, thresholds and observed trends through HMI system.
  12. Responsible for conducting regular quality inspections to ensure a good quality product based on pre-determined standards and requirements.
  13. Assist with machine changeovers, operating overhead cranes to change machine fixtures, and assisting with setting up pre-programed automation systems.
  14. Record accurate production data in computerized systems (parts per hour, scrap, down-time, & part traceability).
  15. Independently conduct thorough pre-shift work cell inspections; ensuring the machine is in good working order and all safety or production concerns are reported or handled after machine start-up.
  16. Conduct regular and end of shift housekeeping duties including sweeping, disposing of trash and scrap etc.
  17. Participate in World Class Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives by giving constructive input throughout the process.
  18. Read and interpret the results for non destructive and destructive quality tests and modify setting to accommodate for identified issues.
  19. Assist with training team members on operation processes.
  20. Complete full Gated training for Levels 1, 2, & 3 Certification.

Requirements:

  • 4 to 5 years Robotics, PLC (Siemens, Ladder Logic, ABB/Allen Bradley)
  • Grade 12 or GED required. College degree preferred (Technology or Engineer focus)
  • Fulfill the Health and Safety responsibilities as identified in the Occupational Health and Safety Program.
  • Fulfill the Environmental responsibilities as identified in ISO14001 Environmental Management System and
  • Quality responsibilities as indicated in TS16949 Quality Management System.
  • Other duties as assigned
