We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Bus Driver to join our team at Aroostook County Action Program. As a Bus Driver, you will be responsible for safely transporting children to and from home and center, while maintaining a clean and well-maintained vehicle.
Key Responsibilities- Operate a school bus to transport children safely and efficiently
- Clean and maintain the vehicle on a daily basis
- Enforce all safety policies and procedures
- Assist with communication between center and parents
- Perform interior/exterior maintenance and repairs or custodial duties at the center when necessary
- 1-2 years of experience transporting children in public/school transportation
- Working with young children
- Supervisory experience
- Operating a school bus weighing above 26,000 lbs., 20 passengers or above, preferred
- Use Microsoft Office applications and other computer software as applicable to the position
- Communicate with and relate to young children
- Work with a diverse population
- Read, analyze, comprehend, and apply written procedures
- Ability to handle frequent disruptions
- Recognize signs of problems with vehicles
- High School diploma or equivalent
- General vehicle maintenance and repairs
- First Aid and CPR Certification
- Child Care License regulations
- Head Start Performance Standards
- Ability to work a flexible schedule
- Must pass required background checks
- Must hold C.H.R.C
- Must be 21 years of age
- Must possess a valid Maine Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with PS endorsements, an acceptable driving record per the program, have reliable transportation, provide proof of insurance, and must be insurable under Agency policy

- Maintains confidentiality; protects the Agency by keeping information concerning employees, those we serve, and the Agency itself confidential.
- Follows all safety policies and procedures with a safety first approach to all job duties.

Work is performed in a school bus. The noise level is usually high. Potentially may evacuate children in emergency situations. May work with some hazardous materials such as bleach. There may be occasional exposure to blood borne pathogens and other bodily fluids. Frequent exposure to outside weather conditions.
