Aerial Target Technician Job Description

Amentum is seeking a skilled Aerial Target Technician to support the Aerial Targets Department on Kauai, HI. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the operational readiness of aerial targets, implementing and performing quality assurance functions, and managing maintenance activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Implement and perform quality assurance functions in accordance with NAVAIR specifications.
  • Manage and schedule targets and related equipment for preventive and corrective maintenance.
  • Maintain accurate target logbooks and support troubleshooting efforts.
  • Perform periodic quality assurance inspections and maintenance tasks in accordance with published NAVAIR procedures and OEM guidelines.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and repairs of aerial target systems using electronic and mechanical schematics and test equipment.
  • Prepare and submit quality deficiency reports and periodic reports as required.
  • Provide operation and maintenance training to other technicians.
  • Perform initial inspections and acceptance tests on new target systems.
  • Build-up targets to meet operational configuration and perform pre-launch checks.
  • Retrieve targets and perform post-flight inspections, documenting results and reporting findings.
  • Assist in decontamination, salvage, and rebuilding targets as necessary.
  • Develop and implement new procedures and procedural changes.
  • Perform Direct or Remote-Control Operator tasks during pre-flight and pre-launch tests and in-flight operations.
Work Environment:
  • Shop and target launch facilities
  • Outside work environment at various locations throughout PMRF and deployment at sea
  • In-flight missions can be up to 16 hours
  • Extended operational hours and occasional weekend/holiday activity during sustained periods of surge mission support
  • Lifting, pushing, and pulling 25-50 lbs
  • Work positions requiring walking, standing, sitting, crawling, kneeling, or cramped positions
  • Working environment activities: customer contact, extended workday, office laboratory, field assignment, and inclement weather
Requirements:
  • High School or equivalent
  • 2 Year Technical School or equivalent training
  • One or more years of demonstrated experience in maintaining and operating electronic equipment may be substituted for technical school
  • Ten years of progressive experience in a related field is required with a minimum of two years of experience being in the specific field of aircraft electronics
  • Possess PC skills: MS office Word, Excel, and Outlook
Security Clearance:

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance. US Citizenship is required to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
