Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse
Job Summary:
This position provides nursing support to all nursing employees and residents at Oaks Senior Living, ensuring regulatory compliance and adherence to company policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer medications and supervise self-administration as directed by the Wellness Director.
- Verify resident identity and medication accuracy, recording administration times on the MAR/MOR.
- Present medication to residents and observe ingestion or application.
- Record vital signs, weight, food and fluid intake, and output as directed.
- Monitor resident response to medications and report unexpected reactions.
- Counsel residents on social or other problems.
- Schedule doctor's appointments based on resident needs.
- Ensure timely and accurate medication refills by faxing new prescriptions to the pharmacy.
- Inform families of mail order medication reorder needs.
- Communicate with physician's offices regarding resident changes and medication orders.
- Respond to call lights within 7 minutes to attend to resident needs.
- Maintain accurate narcotic sheet counts.
- Attend required training and conferences to stay updated on nursing profession changes and maintain CEU's.
- Complete all training required by state regulations and document annually.
- Perform assigned caregiver duties and document appropriately.
- Participate in care planning as assigned.
- Oversee training for nursing staff to ensure state regulations are met.
- Address employee, family, and resident concerns to promote satisfaction and good communication.
- Participate in fire and disaster drills and maintain confidentiality of resident and staff information.
Reports to: Wellness Director/Horizons Wellness Director
Qualifications:
- A minimum of a one-year certificate from an accredited college or technical school; three to six months related experience or training.
- LPN license required; management experience preferred.
Physical Job Requirements:
To fulfill job requirements, employees must be able to perform key physical tasks for extended periods. Employees must adhere to proper body mechanics and safety measures.
1. Stand/walk up to eight hours a day.
2. Sit up to two hours a day.
3. Frequently support up to 75 pounds.
4. Occasionally lift/carry up to 50 pounds.
5. Frequently kneel, bend, and reach.
6. Secure proper assistance for transferring of residents as needed.
