Key Responsibilities- Provide direct and indirect nursing care to meet the physiological, psychosocial, and emotional needs of residents-patients, including adolescents, adults, and their families.
- Perform assessments of residents-patients in various settings, such as initial intake areas, healthcare units, emergency situations, and chronic care clinics.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals and security officers in a correctional environment to ensure seamless care delivery.
- Identify inmate-centered goals and nursing objectives, implementing prescribed interventions and solutions to address identified problems.
- Plan nursing care by identifying resident-patient needs based on assessments, making timely referrals, and initiating appropriate nursing care according to institutional policies and procedures.
- As a team leader or charge nurse, delegate duties to other healthcare team members based on their skill, knowledge, and experience, guiding the provision of care by others.
- Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
- License to practice in the State of New Jersey.
- CPR Certification required.
- Valid Driver's License is required.
- Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) or its equivalent preferred.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a correctional setting preferred.
The Staff Nurse will work in a fast-paced correctional environment, requiring strong communication and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will be able to lift and carry an emergency treatment bag weighing up to 45 pounds and assist in lifting and rotating patients who are unable to ambulate (up to 50 pounds).
