Job Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Historian/Clinical Documenter to join our team at The Spine and Orthopedic Center.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting physicians in increasing efficiency, report production, and patient flow through our offices. This role requires travel to our satellite locations in Santa Barbara, Santa Maria, and Bakersfield.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Room patients, distribute and collect paperwork
  • Field authorization and patient calls
  • Obtain outside medical records, including imaging
  • Interview patients and obtain medical history, job description, history of injury and treatment, present complaints, and social history
  • Utilize the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system to enter patient data
  • Accurately and thoroughly document medical visits and procedures as they are being performed by the physician
  • Electronically fax completed office visit note to various parties, including insurance companies and attorneys
  • Edit medical reports, create proof of services, and assist with outgoing report processing
  • Assist with other front and back office tasks

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will possess exceptional written and verbal skills, be proficient in typing, and have excellent spelling, punctuation, and grammar skills. They must also be willing to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining great attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
  • Experience with medical terminology is an asset
