Tacoma Rail, a leading provider of rail transportation in the greater Tacoma area, is seeking a highly skilled Railway Conductor to coordinate train activities, supervise crew operations, and ensure safe and efficient train movements.
The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills, be physically fit, and have a strong understanding of railroad operating rules and practices. They must also be able to work effectively in a team environment, prioritize tasks, and maintain a high level of safety awareness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and participate in assembling/spotting unit trains, coupling and uncoupling railcars, and general yard switching and classification
- Operate railroad switches and use radio communication and standard hand and lantern signals to direct Locomotive Engineer
- Perform industrial switching and keep records of cars switched; keep time reports for self and other crew members
- Inspect railcars and report any defects; make timely reports of any accidents or incidents
Requirements:
- One year of experience as a Conductor on a Class I, II, or III railroad under the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA)
- Valid Washington State driver's license required
- Current Conductor or Locomotive Engineer certification preferred
