Position Overview

Gaston Social Services is dedicated to safeguarding, nurturing, and empowering individuals who are temporarily or permanently unable to care for themselves. This is achieved through the administration of various federal, state, and local programs aimed at enhancing the welfare of our citizens.

Key Responsibilities

The following duties are essential for this position:
  • Deliver in-home support by engaging families through the Child & Family Team process, formulating a case plan, and conducting assessments while adhering to mandated contact standards for home visits involving children and caretakers. Collaborate with community partners and professionals to address the needs of families holistically.
  • File petitions with the court for the removal of children from unsafe environments and provide comprehensive information regarding the child's circumstances.
  • Offer services to children identified as abused, neglected, or dependent.
  • Collaborate with parents and community organizations to ensure the provision of services aimed at minimizing risks to children.
Minimum Qualifications

A. Master's Degree in Social Work from an accredited institution and one year of relevant experience.
B. Master's Degree in counseling or a related human services field with two years of directly-related experience.
C. BSW from an accredited social work program and completion of the Child Welfare Collaborative with one year of directly-related experience (for Child Welfare positions only).
D. BSW from an accredited institution with two years of social work or counseling experience.
E. Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university with four years of directly-related experience.

Additional Requirements

A valid driver's license is mandatory.

Compensation and Benefits

Minimally qualified candidates will start at 25% of the salary range: $62,076.

The selected candidate must undergo a criminal background check and pass a drug screening test prior to employment.
