Job Summary

The Home Visitor is primarily responsible for providing service delivery that capitalizes on the home as the child's primary learning environment. They will also provide comprehensive services to children and families, covering all elements of the Early Head Start program.

Responsibilities
  • Provide service delivery that capitalizes on the home as the child's primary learning environment.
  • Offer comprehensive services to children and families, covering all elements of the Early Head Start program.
Requirements
  • A degree in Child Development or Early Childhood Education from an accredited college or university, plus six months of working experience in an Early Childhood program; Or Credential in Child Development Associate program or organized two-year college program (60 credits), plus one year supervised teaching experience in an Early Childhood program; Or Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from an accredited college or university, plus six months of working experience in an Early Childhood program, plus six credit or equivalent approved Child Development or Early Childhood training courses; Or Bachelor's degree in any field from an accredited college or university, plus twelve credits or equivalent approved Child Development or Early Childhood training courses.
  • Six months plus of experience, with ongoing monthly in-service training focusing on topics such as Child Development, Health & Safety, challenging behaviors, curriculum, working with parents, etc.
  • Excellent communication, organization, supervision, and problem-solving skills, flexibility, and willingness to work as a team member.
  • Experience with children ages 3-5 and their families, knowledge of community resources, and the skills to link families with appropriate agencies and services.
  • CPR and First Aid certification required upon hire.
Working Conditions
  • This job requires a valid Hawaii driver's license, a clear driver's abstract, and willingness to travel in personal vehicle on an as-needed basis throughout the island.
  • This position is subject to a criminal background investigation, and continued employment is contingent on a record clear of convictions.
