**City of Charlottesville, VA Job Opportunity**
**Job Summary:**
We are seeking highly motivated and qualified officials to support our mission to enhance the quality of life for all through the stewardship of public land and parks and to provide quality recreational experiences. As an official, you will be responsible for officiating athletic sporting events, games, competitions, and tournaments, including Adult Softball, Adult Volleyball, Adult Men's and Women's Basketball, Youth Basketball, and Flag Football.
**Responsibilities and Duties:**
As an official, you will be responsible for demonstrating ability to officiate athletic programs in a fair and impartial manner, maintaining order among program participants, monitoring and controlling compliance with Department regulations and policies, and communicating effectively with the highest regard for the customer.
**Requirements:**
To be considered for this position, you must be at least 18 years of age by employment start date, have any combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job, and be able to work flexible schedule including early mornings, weeknights, weekends, and holidays.
**Salary and Benefits:**
The estimated annual salary for this position is $27,000, based on a competitive salary range. This is a temporary, seasonal, or intern position, and as such, there are no benefits associated with this role.
**Physical Conditions and Additional Information:**
This position may be required to work weekends, nights, and/or holidays and is subject to drug and alcohol testing for pre-employment, reasonable suspicion, post-accident, and random testing.

**Certification Requirements:**
All staff serving in this role will be required to complete the Parks and Recreation Certification program for Officials on an annual basis.
