Nurse Practitioner

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our Float Pool team at McLaren Health Care. As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care through the utilization of the nursing process. You will work collaboratively with other members of the healthcare team to maintain standards for professional nursing practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess the physical, psychosocial, and educational needs of patients.
- Complete or review admission assessments and utilize them in the nursing process.
- Perform focused physical evaluations of patients at the beginning and end of each shift, on patient transfer, and/or upon discharge.
- Document and report abnormal physical findings to physicians and/or other appropriate personnel.
- Give/receive reports on patients.
- Summarize patient data and identify appropriate nursing diagnoses/interventions and patient needs during shift, transfer, and/or interim reporting.
- Plan and implement nursing care according to patient and family needs.
- Develop nursing plans of care, interventions, and outcomes. Revises and updates the nursing care plan as necessary.
- Set/revises priorities for direct patient care activities by acuity/urgency of need.
- Determine and communicate nursing orders.
- Delegate tasks to others, making appropriate assignments.
- Oversee nursing care of all assigned patients and assure documentation is completed.
- Incorporate patient education into care plans as appropriate. Provide patient education or contribute information for discharge planning.
- Make appropriate interventions based upon individual patient needs.
- Administer medications according to hospital policy and procedure, documenting route, dose, and time.
- Provide direct patient care, including therapeutic treatments and diagnostic procedures, according to patient and family needs.
- Implement physician's orders according to hospital protocols and procedures.
- Report/receive assignments to ensure continuity of care.
- Demonstrate clinical skills, performance of procedures, treatments, and patient care.
- Direct patient education and document outcomes. Lead and coordinate education for the patient care partner.
- Lead and coordinate patient care activities in designated unit-based geographical assignments.
- Use clinical judgment and integrate data for expected patient outcomes.
- Monitor care given and assure documentation is complete.
- Oversee patients' discharge/transfer process and complete relevant information.
- Evaluate patient responses to nursing interventions.
- Document patient responses to clinical interventions.
- Review and update the patient's plan of care. Communicate significant changes in patient status to others as appropriate.
- Assume personal responsibility for quality patient care, patient satisfaction, environment, and professional development.
- Promote patient satisfaction, anticipate and respond to needs of others; provide assessment in a courteous manner; treat others with care and respect, maintaining privacy, confidentiality, and dignity.
- Serve as patient/family advocate, facilitating patients' ability to make informed decisions about their care.
- Participate in nursing or hospital performance improvement activities for monitoring and evaluating important aspects of care; nursing practices standards, and/or outcomes of care.
- Demonstrate professional behavior and interpersonal skills to reflect McLaren Health Care's mission, vision, and values.
- Participate in nursing research projects as requested.
- Comply with State Board of Nursing educational requirements. Participate in organizational and departmental mandatory educational offerings, completing all requirements.
- Promote own professional development through participation in education, unit-based meetings, and committees.
- Comply with nursing and administrative policy and procedure manuals.
- Maintain a safe environment for patients, families, and staff.
- Comply with hospital and departmental safety policies.
- Document actions and/or specify measures taken to ensure patient safety.
- Comply with infection control and universal precaution guidelines.
- Perform other related job duties as assigned.
