About the Role

We are seeking an experienced CPU RTL Architect to join our Silicon Engineering Group at Apple. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for driving the architecture and RTL development of high-performance, low-power microprocessors that power our innovative products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and specify micro-architecture designs, from early high-level exploration to detailed specification
  • Own and develop RTL designs, assessing and refining them to meet power, performance, area, and timing goals
  • Support the verification team in test bench development, formal methods, and simulation/emulation for functional verification
  • Explore high-performance strategies and work with the performance verification team to verify that the RTL design meets targeted performance
  • Work with the multifunctional engineering team to implement and verify physical design on timing, area, reliability, testability, and power
Requirements
  • Minimum BS and 10+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Thorough knowledge of microprocessor architecture, including expertise in one or more areas: out-of-order execution, instruction scheduling, integer and floating point execution, load/store execution, cache and memory subsystems
  • Knowledge of Verilog and/or VHDL, simulators, and waveform debugging tools
  • Understanding of logic design principles, timing, and power implications
  • Experience in C or C++ programming and interpretive languages like Perl or Python
