Job Summary

Chenega MIOS SBU is seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer, Mid-Level to join our team in Gaithersburg, MD. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing technical leadership and delivering innovative products, services, or a combination of products and services that address customer-specific requirements in support of ESRI-based GIS systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop APIs for geospatial data ingest and transmission to external systems using open GIS standards.
  • Provide engineering design input, development, implementation, and sustainment of mission requirements and enhance overall system security, performance, and availability.
  • Provide documentation of tools and processes used to build and install software in production environment.
  • Provide regular system requirements and capabilities updates to clients, applying current industrial software development best practices.
  • Interact with technical team leads to understand current system, subsystems, and component specifications and recommend changes to facilitate efficient and effective development.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and 4+ years of relevant experience or Associate degree and 6+ years of relevant experience or High school diploma or GED equivalent and 8+ years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated technical skills in data management and working knowledge of Geospatial Information Systems (GIS).
  • Experience with ArcGIS Server to create and manage GIS Web services, applications, and data.
  • Experience with GeoServer to share, process, and edit geospatial data.
  • Experience with Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) standards-based web services such as Web Map Service (WMS), Web Coverage Service (WCS), Web Feature Service (WFS), Web Processing Service (WPS), and Web Map Tile Service (WMTS).
  • Experience with scripting languages such as JavaScript, Python.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with building front-end or back-end Java applications or Django Python.
  • Experience with Java Frameworks (Spring, Hibernate) and RESTful web services.
  • Experience with JavaScript Frameworks and tools.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance.
