Job Title: Payroll Specialist

At Transtar Industries, we are seeking a highly skilled Payroll Specialist to join our Human Resources team. As a Payroll Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing in accordance with applicable Federal and State laws.

Responsibilities:
  • Administer and process a Weekly/Bi-Weekly multi-jurisdiction payroll in accordance with government regulations and tax codes.
  • Calculate payable hours, commissions, bonuses, tax withholdings, garnishments, and deductions.
  • Process new hires into ADP WFN.
  • Perform regular audits to maintain data integrity.
  • Enter payroll and employment-related information into the HRIS system and maintain the day-to-day maintenance of this system.
  • Validate and approve ADP payroll processing invoices and submit to AP for payment.
  • Review, correct, maintain, and file quarterly and annual tax data for required payroll reporting.
  • Assist team members with payroll and human resource inquiries and resolve discrepancies as needed.
  • Calculate, process, and reconcile federal and state tax and social security withholding, and other deductions, insurance, benefits, and 401(k) contributions, garnishments, child support, and court orders affecting employee compensation.
  • Set up all taxes in the HRIS to ensure appropriate filing and record keeping.
  • Review and process payroll adjustments, including paid time off, disability, bereavement, and other leaves of absence.
  • Audit timekeeping records to ensure compliance.
  • Complete employment verification requests in a timely manner.
  • Complete Unclaimed Wages Verifications and filings with appropriate States.
  • Provide guidance to management and team members on payroll policies and procedures.
  • Participate in appropriate payroll training, seminars, and workshops to keep abreast of current trends and practices in human resources.
  • Maintain current knowledge and understanding of regulations, industry trends, best practices, and applicable laws affecting payroll administration.
  • Maintain positive relationships with team members at all levels within Transtar Industries.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience with ADP Enhanced Time and WFN or similar payroll systems.
  • Minimum 4-6 years of related experience processing multi-state payrolls.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Working knowledge of payroll best practices.
  • Understanding of basic accounting principles and internal controls.
  • Strong work ethic and team player mentality.
  • High level of integrity to handle confidential information with sensitivity.
  • Solid decision-making, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Positive and personable demeanor and great customer service skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • High level of attention to detail and ability to stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work under stressful circumstances while maintaining a sense of calm and control.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
Work Environment:

This role will primarily be a hybrid position, with an in-office presence on Wednesdays and for occasional business needs.

No travel requirements.
